Chilotilapia rhoadesii ist wahrscheinlich im gesamten See verbreitet. Dieser Cichlide ist ein spezialisierter Schneckenfresser. Im Aquarium wird jedoch jedes Ersatzfutter angenommen. Gleich starke Männchen bekämpfen sich stark. Er sollte mit anderen Nicht-Mbunas vergesellschaftet werden.
